Tennis Europe Tournament 2026

In 2026, we embarked on our first overseas Tennis Europe tournament, held in Borne, the Netherlands.

Purpose of the trip

We travelled with one clear goal: to help Charlotte gain international match experience and broaden her understanding of Europe’s talented young players.

Arrival and first impressions

Because the entry list was smaller than expected, Charlotte didn’t need to play qualification and went straight into the main draw. On Sunday, we went to the venue for a practice session, where Charlotte met Ena from Malta. Ena warmly invited Charlotte to play doubles with her—a moment that immediately made the trip feel special.

Singles results and lessons

Across three main-draw matches, Charlotte earned a strong win, defeating Tess Busscher (Netherlands)6:3, 6:2. Her other two opponents were more mature and quicker, and those matches made the takeaway very clear: Charlotte will benefit from continuing to develop her footwork and racket-head speed.

Doubles: a highlight of the tournament

In doubles, the girls started confidently, winning their quarterfinal 6:1, 6:3. They then faced a tough semifinal against a pair from Romania and Ukraine, and despite their effort, they fell 3:6, 2:6.

Looking back

Overall, we achieved what we came for: valuable experience, stronger perspective, and a clearer sense of what to work on next. Even more importantly, Charlotte had the opportunity to play doubles with Ena—and came home with a new friendship, which may be the best win of all.
