A Positive DH Girls Team Tournament Experience
During the outdoor season, the Danish Tennis Association (DTF) offers a wide range of opportunities for tennis players of different levels to represent their clubs and compete against other clubs across Denmark.
At Farum Tennis Club, I am the only U12 elite girl player. For the past several years, I have represented the club in regional team competitions organised by Tennis Øst . While this provided valuable match experience, my motivation and enjoyment were sometimes limited, as I did not know many of the other players well.
This year, I was fortunate to be invited to represent Holte Tennis Klub in the DH girls’ team tournament during the outdoor season. This turned out to be a completely different and very positive experience.
All the girls from Holte Tennis Klub are friends whom I already know from other tournaments, which created a strong sense of team spirit from the start. On a sunny (though windy) Sunday in May, we played a mini round‑robin tournament against KB and Skovshoved Tennis Klub.
I had the opportunity to partner with Maya Teilmann, a very talented and fast player, for the doubles matches. Although we lost our first double match against KB, we stayed focused and worked together to prepare for our second match against Skovshoved. This approach paid off, and we won the match 4:3, 4:0.
One of the aspects I enjoy most about playing doubles is the communication and mutual support between partners. Having that connection on court makes a significant difference and means a great deal to me. Another important part of this experience was the on‑court coaching support. Our coach, Gilberto Valente, helped me stay mentally strong, even in challenging moments when I was behind. This guidance has been an important part of my development and is a key step in continuing to progress my tennis career.
